Pumpkin Patch

Well, It's been a while, but I've been a busy young man, eating, pooping, and peeing and all.  On Saturday, mommy and daddy dragged me to the local pumpkin patch.  Something about being outdoors puts me right to sleep, so I'm not awake for any of these pictures.  Check me out, I look like a blob in a patch full of pumpkins.

But, the good news is that I got cool new pictures with daddy...

And mommy...

And daddy again...

Well, at least I get to look forward to this for the next few years...

Grandma and Grandpa Came to Visit Again

They thought it would be cool if we all wore white.

At least I know where mommy gets her matching obsession from...

I'm Three Weeks Old Today

Guess what mommy and daddy got me for my birthday?

A crummy shot from the doctor in my leg.  Needless to say, this is not a birthday I'm going to remember.

Auntie Teresa Came to Visit...

...all the way from New York!

I like visitors...

Slightly less ok here...

I'm definitely not ok here...

Needless to say, tummy time was over for me this day.

Aunt TeeTee Came to Visit

Finally, after almost two weeks on the outside, aunt TeeTee (Katie for those not in the know) came to visit me.  This leaves Uncle Josh and Aunt Julie as the only ones to not have visited me yet.  Come on guys, I would like to meet you!  Anyway, I was on my best behavior for TeeTee and she had lots of fun holding me.

Look how happy I was with TeeTee holding me.

Do I Look Strange?

Daddy and Me Watching Sportscenter

While admittedly I can only see a few inches, at least I looked in the general direction of the tv to make daddy happy.

Guess What I Just Did?

I Lost a Piece of Me Last Night

The bad news is that daddy found my gross umbilical cord stub when he was changing me last night.  The good news is that tummy no longer has anything sticking out of it and my much worried about peepee is still intact.  I guess the silver lining is that I can finally take a bath...

What if I Grew Up Without a Peepee?

Today was a traumatic day, at least for mommy.  She thought my peepee was infected and sent me to the doctor with daddy.  Good news is that the doctor thought my peepee looked great (I'm sure that isn't the first lady that likes the look of my special parts).  Bad news is that mommy searched so many circumcision websites that our household is on the watch list now...Pretty sure we will get a low turnout of trick-or-treaters.  Darn...

All Cuddled Up for Bed

Aren't I just the cutest.  I sure like the Swaddleme Blanket...it lets my little legs kick all night long.

I'm One Week Old Today

Had a busy day too.  Went to mommy's doctor, Target, Best Buy, Chipotle, and the Tallahassee Democrat.  I didn't even cry once.  Football quiz...Tell me the most famous NFL player to wear number 56?

FYI, I like to suck my index finger.  I bet Lawrence Taylor didn't suck his index finger.

Thinking Baby

Too cute...

What's Missing in this Picture?

Hint:  My baby's penny.  John has already slept in the cradle more in three days than Caydin ever did...I want my penny.

Big Yawn

First time in the new rocker...

Grandma Carey, Aunt Aimee, and Cousin Caydin Come to Visit

So after a few days of the baby eating, sleeping, and relieving himself, Grandma Carey, Aunt Aimee, and Cousin Caydin came to visit.  Look how nice Caydin looks visiting with Caydin...

Then more holding of the baby by Aunt Aimee (nicknamed Donkey).  Babies sure do get held a LOT.

Then we all watched Dumbo.  Disney is brilliant by releasing movies only every so often, that way, people like me who haven't watched a movie in 25 years buy it and then realize that it is the most depressing movie I have seen in a long time.  Damn Disney got another $25 from me.

Our Home Welcomes Little John

Check out our little guy in the carseat carrier at home for the first time...

Look at those cheeks...

Of course everyone had to hold the baby on the first day home.  First...mommy.

Then Grandma...

Then grandpa...

I would post a picture with daddy holding the baby on his first day home, but I don't think one exists because everyone else hogged all the holding time.  Anyway, it was finally bedtime on day one at home.  Little John sure doesn't look happy about bedtime.  At least he is in a cool cradle built by his grandpa...

Busting out of the Hospital

After spending one night in the hospital, mommy and daddy were ready to bust out.  With an endless line of nurses, technicians, and doctors coming in all night long, we didn't get a lot of sleep.  Before we could get out, though, we had to teach mommy how to walk again.  Check out mommy taking laps down the hallway...

After night two, we had enough!!!  We asked the doctor first thing in the morning to let us go free and he gave us our walking papers. Before they let us go though, they had more torture in store.  Daddy was required to lug the car seat up the the room and fit the baby into the seat.  Easy enough, right?  Then we were told that the baby couldn't be walked to the front door in the car seat and had to be held by mommy who, even though she had learned to walk (really just a shuffle) again, was required to sit in a wheelchair to get to the front door.  So out of the seat came the baby again.  I'm still ok at this point.  Here is baby, mommy, and daddy at the front door about to reach freedom (and yes, we did color coordinate...).

At this point, the silly technician said I needed to strap the carseat in the car and then put the baby in.  Now, the carseat we bought has a base that stays strapped in the car and a carrier for the baby.  With the base installed in the center of the backseat of my truck, there is no way possible I can squeeze the baby in when the carrier is in the base.  I looked at the technician and said that the carrier does not strap into the truck and that only the base straps in and the carrier clicks into the base.  She said, "No, you have to strap the car seat in before putting the baby in."  I was thinking, you have to be kidding me but OK. So I agreed to go get the truck and show this silly technician what I was talking about.  I clicked the carrier in the base and showed her that I couldn't possibly get the baby in the seat.  I asked if I could take the carrier out, put the baby in, and then click it back in.  The technician said "just do whatever you want", and then walked away.  Now I was hot, but at least she was gone...Anyway, we were on our way home.

Welcome to the World John Michael Carey, IV

WARNING---THIS BLOG IS INTENDED TO KEEP THE BABY'S GRANDPARENTS, AUNTS, UNCLES, AND COUSINS INFORMED---I HAD NO CHOICE.

Well, after 39 weeks, the waiting was finally over at 1:15 PM EST on October 3, 2011.  Born at 21 inches long and 7 lbs 6 ozs, we finally had the baby we had waited so long for.  Now, although we were very happy,  Little John wasn't so crazy about it at first...

Let's back up a bit and meet the parents shortly before the baby was born.  Jenifer and John Michael Carey, III.  See how happy we looked before birth...OK, maybe determined was a better word...

Look at the silly Grandparents waiting outside the door...

Here's Little John visiting with both parents.  Mommy is REALLY not feeling well here...

Look at me...I'm zero today!!!

More adventures to follow...
